Super Bowl Betting – Defensive Breakdown

The Super Bowl line is up and while the story of the day will be the offenses, the defense that plays best will truly be the key. Here is a breakdown of the defensive matchups:   Defensive Line:   While the Indianapolis Colts would normally have the edge, there is an opening for the New Orleans Saints to match up a little more evenly if Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney is unable to play.   There is some concern about a sprained left ankle, which could limit him. If he’s healthy, the Colts have the edge. For now, that’s an unknown so this is an even matchup.   Advantage:...

NFL Betting – Player Injuries Should Be Considered On Individual Basis
Tuesday, 08 May 2012 00:18    | Written by Webmaster    PDF Print E-mail

When San Francisco 49ers’ wide receiver Kyle Williams fumbled away a key turnover during a punt return late in the NFC Championship game last season, the backlash against the concussion-addled depth player was ridiculous. It was bad enough that 49ers’ fans blamed Williams for the loss because of his mistake, but even worse was when it came to light that both the New York Giants and New Orleans Saints had targeted him because of his past concussion issues. The idea of targeting injured players in order to exploit any weaknesses makes sense to football players to a certain degree, and while the recent bounty gate scandal may result in them receiving additional protection from the league, it is important when betting on the NFL that significant injuries still be taken in to consideration.

Even the casual sports betting football fan understands the importance of a quarterback to his team, so it makes sense that injuries to quarterbacks would have the biggest impact on the outcome of the game. The Buffalo Bills suffered one of the biggest collapse of any team last season after Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered a concussion, following up a 6-2 start with a 1-8 finish to end the season two games below .500. While his concussion certainly played a negative role in his performance, a case can be made that Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger played most of the season through injury, and his team finished 12-4. Understanding the impact each injury has on a player should be considered on an individual basis, and evaluated in terms of how big of an affect it should have and how it will impact his team’s performance. Just like with NHL and NBA, there is a ton of information published each week on the NFL injury report, so make sure not to overlook anything that could have a significant impact on the games.

NFL Betting – The Impact Of New Head Coaches On Super Bowl Odds
Tuesday, 10 April 2012 00:31    | Written by Webmaster    PDF Print E-mail

Taking a quick look back at the list of Super Bowl winners over the past decade can provide some quality insight in what to expect going forward in the coming years, as just like in life, some of the most important factors in sports history tend to repeat themselves over time. One of those sports betting factors is the importance of the NFL head coach to a team’s Super Bowl chances, beginning from the moment they are hired and spanning throughout their careers. Not since 2002 has a first-year head coach won the Super Bowl the way that Jon Gruden did with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a trend most likely to continue based on the history of the NFL.

While pay head teams aren’t likely to win a Super Bowl in the first year under a new head coach, there is usually room to be optimistic that their records can change for the better if it comes after a down year. Most coaching changes bring a new approach that can motivate the players, and if the candidate is an experienced head coach ready to really help the team improve, then he should have a positive impact on their overall record. By the same token, after years of success and continuity a new head coach could also have a negative impact on a team if it isn’t the right selection. Continuity is one of the unique Betonline keys to success for most championship teams, and breaking that up can lead to teams falling apart over time.

NFL Betting – Continuity A Key Factor To Keep An Eye On This Offseason
Tuesday, 27 March 2012 00:07    | Written by Webmaster    PDF Print E-mail

When it comes to NFL teams that contend for the Super Bowl, one of the biggest factors to look for is continuity, as teams grow together and progress to the point where they have the chemistry to contend for a Vince Lombardi trophy. Whether it’s the New York Giants this past season, the Green Bay Packers the year before, or the Pittsburgh Steelers even before that, the one common factor with all three of those teams is continuity. Of course, you have to have a reliable franchise quarterback and a top-10 defense, but there are teams that have both of those things and won’t win because the chemistry and continuity aren’t there.

Despite the changes made by the pay head bookies to the Denver Broncos’ odds of winning the Super Bowl that has to be among the biggest concerns that team could have going in to this season. Not only is the team not complete at this point, but even with Peyton Manning there he does not have the rapport with his receivers to be banked on as a contender. In his entire Hall of Fame career with the Indianapolis Colts, Manning won the Super Bowl only once, so to think that his addition alone can help the Broncos even get there is a bit beyond belief. The sports betting odds have the Patriots, Steelers, Packers, and Giants all back up there among the top options to win it all this season, and continuity is a big reason why. Keep an eye out for those teams this offseason and see what they do, as all four have the talent and experience together to be considered legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

NFL Betting – Decision Should Be Coming Soon From Manning
Tuesday, 13 March 2012 00:29    | Written by Webmaster    PDF Print E-mail

With the March Madness betting tournament around the corner, and the clock winding down to the start of the NFL free agency period on Tuesday, a decision could be coming any time now from free agent quarterback Peyton Manning, who was released by the Indianapolis Colts last week. The future Hall of Fame pivot will be looking for a new team for the first time in his career, and the four-time MVP has a long list that he will need to consider. Manning flew to Denver on Friday and spent some time with the Broncos’ management before heading to Arizona on Sunday to talk to the Cardinals, before flying back to Miami, where he has a condominium. While the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs were both also rumored to be interested in Manning, he has not officially met with either of those teams, so the pay head list could likely be down to the Broncos, Cardinals, and Dolphins.

It is hard to say definitively which team is the best fit for Manning, although the Cardinals sure do have a pretty attractive package. Larry Fitzgerald is already there waiting for Manning and with Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark both free agents, that offense could come together pretty quickly in the desert should they choose to all unite. The Broncos have some good pieces but lack the type of quality receiving options that Arizona has, and Manning has never played in a cold, outdoor field as a member of the home team. The Dolphins also have some pieces but appear further away, and Manning may want to avoid the glamour of the big city sports betting spotlight and concentrate more on his game in a quieter city like Arizona. In the end, whichever team Manning signs with will get a huge boost overall, and a decision should be coming shortly.

NFL Betting – Uncertainty Beyond The Top-Five In 2012 Draft
Tuesday, 28 February 2012 00:23    | Written by Webmaster    PDF Print E-mail

One of the fastest rising sports betting trends in the NFL over the past few years is the amount of systems devised to break down the NFL draft, and where each player is “guaranteed” to go in the weeks following the March Madness betting tournament. The problem with all of these systems is that there are so many players that will be taken, and with one wrong pick an entire board can come apart. That said, there are certain percentages that can be relied on for this year’s draft, beginning with that the Indianapolis Colts are bound to select Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the first overall pick. However, while Luck represents the perfect fit with the Colts with or without Peyton Manning in the fold, there is some uncertainty the rest of the way.

There has been a lot of talk among pay head players about another team jumping up to second to take Heisman trophy winner Robert Griffin III of Baylor, and there is every reason to believe that the Washington Redskins could be that team. The Redskins have been desperate for a quarterback for quite some time now, and it fits the team’s outlook that they would be aggressive in pursuit of such a strong talent, especially playing in a division that features Michael Vick of the Philadelphia Eagles. It will be hard for the Minnesota Vikings not to select USC’s Matt Kalil at No. 3 considering the incredible talent he brings and the need that he fits, and the same can be said about the Cleveland Browns in regards to running Trent Richardson of Alabama, who is one of the best running backs to enter the draft in quite some time. Rounding out the top-five is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and while this could be the spot where things start to get hard to predict, a cornerback such as LSU’s Morris Claiborne may be the best fit for a Tampa-2 that relies so much on that position but is thin for talent.
