News image

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made it official on the afternoon of Tuesday May 25, 2010 when he announced that Super Bowl XLVII in 2014 will be played in the new Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey. The sports betting world was wondering when there would be another Ice Bowl, and now the answer has come.

Super Bowl Betting – Defensive Breakdown

The Super Bowl line is up and while the story of the day will be the offenses, the defense that plays best will truly be the key. Here is a breakdown of the defensive matchups:   Defensive Line:   While the Indianapolis Colts would normally have the edge, there is an opening for the New Orleans Saints to match up a little more evenly if Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney is unable to play.   There is some concern about a sprained left ankle, which could limit him. If he’s healthy, the Colts have the edge. For now, that’s an unknown so this is an even matchup.   Advantage:...

Brandon Marshall set to join the Jets?

News image

It appears the tumultuous offseason in Denver may not be over for the poor Broncos. After watching him demand a trade, then clown around at practice before suspending him, the Broncos may finally be ready to trade wide receiver Brandon Marshall. The Jets are reportedly pushing hard to acquire Marshall from the Broncos. It’s unclear what Denver would receive in return, but a conditional pick that improves based on the Jets/Marshall’s performance would make a lot of sense. It doesn’t really matter what a Marshall deal would do for Denver; 2009 is set up to be a nightmare no matter what. However, it’s certainly intriguing to ponder Marshall’s potential impact...

Ray LewisTo say that the online betting community is more than a little surprised at the match-ups we will see in the AFC and NFC Championship games would be a slight understatement. We have come this far without the Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints still being involved in the proceedings. The departure of the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers was the most shocking. The Packers gave its divisional game to the New York Giants in a game that should have been dominated by the Packers' offense.

Now we have an AFC Championship game that features the Baltimore Ravens traveling to play the New England Patriots, and an NFC Championship game that has the New York Giants going out west to face the San Francisco 49ers. What will happen on Championship Sunday? It is really hard to tell. But, considering how lopsided and inconsistent the other games have been in these playoffs, these games should be very fun to watch.

NFL Betting – Tips To Consider With Super Bowl Betting
Tuesday, 17 January 2012 06:35    | Written by Webmaster    PDF Print E-mail

When it comes to the NFL, and Super Bowl betting, you will hear thousands of different predictions from thousands of different analysts and prognosticators, and while the numbers are bound to dictate similarities, none of those answers will ever be exactly identical. That means that regardless of what the outcome is, the greatest number of people will be wrong in their prediction for what the exact outcome will be. Even though that number increases when it is simplified to predicting a winner and a loser, which of course makes it 50/50, there is never such thing as a lock, so pay attention to these factors when breaking down the game.

The pay head bookies will open the game with a set line, but that number will move over the course of the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl. Depending on the direction it moves, it becomes easier to forecast where the public is going, and where the bookies want you to put your money. Pay attention to these lines and adjust your wager accordingly, and remember that the public perception is usually incorrect. It seems as if the consensus pick only hits near 50-percent throughout the course of the year, so just because one team is considered the popular pick to hit, that doesn’t necessarily mean it will happen. Once you determine which team you will wager on, shop around and take a look at the lines listed on the sportsbook review sites, and make sure to get the best one. Never get too high or too low in your outlook for the game, and remember, while you don’t want to be careless, you don’t need to be too careful either.

NFL Betting – Proposition Betting Most Popular During Playoffs
Monday, 02 January 2012 00:00    | Written by Webmaster    PDF Print E-mail

One of the most popular ways to bet on the NFL over the past couple of years is proposition betting, and it is the most common once the postseason gets underway. An NFL proposition bet is a specific bet on one or more aspects of the game, and a list of these “prop” bets is usually reserved for big games such as the primetime slots, and of course, for the playoffs. While they aren’t as simple to keep track of as straight-up bets or parlays, the prop bet can be fun because it takes the game to another level, and allows the players to truly show off their knowledge of the sport.

Prop bets could include anything from the number of sacks that the two teams will combine for in a game, to the number of passing yards that each quarterback will throw for. With the Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football becoming so popular in Las Vegas and around the world, it is the job of the pay head bookies to make sure that there are as many wagering options as possible for the players to get in on the action for those games. The best part about the prop bets is that there are almost always excellent lines listed for either option in a given wager. For example, if the over/under for the total number of sacks in a game is listed at 4.5, then both the over and under could have the standard minus-110 as the line, which makes it more fun to make sports betting predictions.

Eli ManningThe online betting world is gearing up for what should be a fun week 17 to watch in the NFL season. In the last week of the regular season, playoff spots will be decided and divisional championships will be settled. Some teams will try to build momentum towards next season, while others will have to face the reality of still being dead in the water. This will also be the week where some coaches will be fighting for their jobs, while others could be coaching their last game without even realizing it. It is a time for the potential champions to rise up and the pretenders to fall away. It is hard to imagine any team resting starters this week because nearly every game on the schedule has something on the line. This will be a fun week to watch and a hard week to bet.

NFL Betting – Tons Of Options To Consider When Betting On Football
Tuesday, 20 December 2011 00:45    | Written by Webmaster    PDF Print E-mail

When it comes to betting on football, whether it is the NFL or at the college level, there are several different kinds of bets that you can make. As is the case with most sports, the straight wager is still an option, although in many games the juice could be really high to discourage sports betting players from veering away from betting on the spread. In these circumstances, such as if the Green Bay Packers were playing the Indianapolis Colts this season, will feature odds near -1200, which means that in order to win just $100 the player would have to rise $1200. Under these circumstances, it makes much more sense to bet the spread, which for a game like the Packers and Colts would likely have a number around minus-14, which means that Green Bay would have to win by at least 14 to cover, which Indianapolis would have to keep the final score within that total.

Another common type of wager that can be applied to betting on football is playing the total, which means betting on whether or not the two teams will combine to score more or less than the total amount of points that the pay head bookies will predict. While players can wager on both the moneyline, spread, and total, they can also combine all three aspects in what is called a parlay, in which several games are wagers on in the same ticket in order to increase the potential payout. While the odds of winning decrease, the possible winnings increase incrementally, and that can lead to a huge pay day betting on football.
