| NFL Betting – Handicapping The Teams Coming Off A Bye Week A Wise Strategy | |
|
One of the most widely embraced trends in the NFL is the idea of betting on a team that is coming off of a bye week, one of the most popular systems that has come in to play in recent years. The reasons for the trend catching on were simple, and it was all about the numbers. In 2007 61-percent of the teams that were coming off their bye week won throughout that season. In 2008, teams that were coming off of their bye week went 20-12, and remember that these numbers include the rare situations where two teams coming off of a bye would play eachother. As the years passed by, the results varied but the fact remained that while bad teams were bad teams regardless of when they played, good teams made a habit out of winning coming out of the bye week. Most sports betting trends rely on specific analysis revolving around the two teams that are playing against eachother, but in this case it was all about when a team had its bye week. The pay head bookies began to recognize this in their point spreads for their games and will always take it in to account, but that makes it that much more important. When the NFL season gets underway, attempt to separate the contenders from the pretenders throughout the first four weeks, and once teams start to come off their bye weeks, stick with the stronger teams, and it could lead to some big payouts. |
