Miami Dolphins 2010 Preview

What is going on in Miami? How does a team take a novelty play like the wildcat, and make it into the core of their offensive scheme? The betting world knows that some very good things are going on in Miami, and it all started with a Tuna.

Bill Parcells has quietly, and quickly, turned the Miami Dolphins into a playoff contender. The NFL Vegas picks experts are expecting big things from the 2010 Miami team, and they have every right to be excited. On defense the Dolphins have yet another "No Name Defense" that is capable of keeping the team in any game, against any opponent. The thing that will frustrate opponents this season is that Dolphin offense.

Running back Ronnie Brown is ready to take his place as an elite NFL running back in 2010. He is the quarterback, often times, of the wildcat formation and he is also the regular running back in first and second down situations. Just when a team has had quite enough of Mr. Brown, the Dolphins bring out Ricky Williams. Forget the troubled past Williams has had, he has a home in Miami and he is an critical part of their offensive success.

Chad Pennington was a reliable veteran quarterback that helped to keep the team together while Parcells was creating his Miami masterpiece. But Pennington is now old news as the NFL Las Vegas picks crowd has fallen in love with new Miami quarterback Chad Henne. Henne is mobile, he is very smart and he has the long bomb arm that Pennington does not have.

Because it happened so early in the off-season, people forget that prolific wide receiver Brandon Marshall is now a Dolphin. While Miami Beach may not be the easiest place for a guy with a troubled past to keep his nose clean, if Marshall can pull it together then he will contribute significantly to the Dolphins offense.

Every quarterback needs an outlet, and in Miami that outlet is tight end Anthony Fasano. Last season, Fasano was put in a situation that he was not equipped to handle. Even on a team with receiver Ted Ginn, Jr., Fasano was used as a primary receiver last season, and he failed miserably at it. Now that Marshall has joined the team, Fasano will be used more like a tight end and he will prosper in the roll.

Even third-string quarterback Pat White could be in line for a break-out season. Last year, it looked like head coach Tony Sparano was trying desperatley to find a use for the very talented White. The problem was that the Dolphins offense was still going through an evolution. Pat White is a good weapon that will find playing time in this offense, and he will make the most of it.

The Dolphins are probably not in a position to challenge the Jets or the Patriots for the AFC East title just yet. But they will make the AFC wildcard battle very interesting, and the Dolphins will finally be free of the AFC East basement which had been their home for so many years.
