The betting public was just about ready to put Michael Vick back on the board as someone who may have an impact on football games, and then the gunshots went off.

Michael Vick was recently implicated in a shooting incident outside a Virginia Beach restaurant. Why was Vick implicated? Because the shooting happened when Vick was at the restaurant celebrating his birthday. The person that was shot was Quanis Phillips. Phillips was a co-defendant of Vick's during the dog fighting trial. Part of Vick's sentence with the courts and the NFL was that Vick was no longer allowed to associate with anyone from his dog fighting days.

The NFL football betting picks that Vick would have been a part of for the 2010 season may have to wait, because there is more to the story. Vick told NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, and the police, that he had left the restaurant at least 10 to 20 minutes before the shots were fired. The truth that was eventually shown by the restaurant surveillance tapes was that Vick left just two or three minutes prior to the shooting.

The police will not be pressing any charges against Vick, and they do not consider him a suspect in the shooting. The breach of trust created by Vick in associating with Phillips and lying to commissioner Goodell about the timing of the events could find Michael Vick in trouble with the commissioner yet again.
