Washington Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb smiled at the press conference immediately after his first practice wearing an ankle brace about a week ago. As soon as everyone saw the brace on McNabb's left leg, speculation about his status for the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys started to swirl. Everyone was betting that McNabb would miss the opener, but McNabb flashed that trademark smile of his and assured the media that he was fine.

The NFL point spread picks experts were watching with interest to see what would happen when the Washington Redskins lined up to play the New York Jets. When backup quarterback Rex Grossman walked on to the field in the first quarter instead of McNabb, speculation flew again.
