Donovan McNabb and the Washington Redskins are downplaying the appearance of a small brace and then an air cast on McNabb's left ankle at practice this week. McNabb injured his ankle in the Redskins' preseason game against the Bengals. He played a little more in that game after the hit that injured him, but he was then pulled from the game.

Donovan McNabb laughed off speculation at a more serious injury by telling the press that wearing the protective gear is just a precaution. McNabb said he has absolutely no pain in his ankle or leg, and that the team is just taking steps to make sure the leg is completely healthy before allowing him to return to action. It is unknown as to whether or not McNabb will play in the third Redskins preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
