Browns name Quinn starter

The Cleveland Browns have finally made a decision as to who is their starting quarterback but the best part of the story might be who is reporting the news: Terrell Owens.

Yes, that Terrell Owens.

Owens, the enigmatic wide receiver now with the Buffalo Bills, reported the news via his Twitter page, congratulating Brady Quinn for winning the job. Interestingly enough, the typically coy head coach of the Cleveland Browns, Eric Mangini, didn’t openly say who would be the starter originally but once Owens reported it, there was nowhere to hide.

It starts to get interesting when you wonder how is it that Owens would know the news. Owens is on a different team, has never played with Quinn before and has no connection to the Browns. But, maybe one of the Browns players talked to Drew Rosenhaus, who then passed along the information to his other client, Owens.

It’s also possible that Owens knows or is buddies with someone who plays on the Browns roster, who leaked the news to him.

Either way, it’s not a big deal to anyone except for the Minnesota Vikings. They’ll be able to prepare a little better for their upcoming game against the Browns this weekend now that they know who in fact will be the starting quarterback. Otherwise, they would have to account for both quarterbacks in their preparation.

Quinn is the smart choice. He’s the future at the position and the Browns have to find out what they have in the guy. If he’s going to be their franchise leader, then now is his time to step up.
